A voluntary walking group is encouraging people to venture outdoors and enjoy the region’s natural beauty spots.
The Wrexham Walking Festival, which takes place from Saturday 1st to Sunday 9th June 2019, invites people of all ages and abilities to enjoy a series of free walks exploring the splendour and history of North East Wales.
Organised by Walkabout Wrexham & District, the festival normally lasts a week but has been extended this year to cross over two weekends in the hope to make it even more accessible for people wishing to take part.
Local Assembly Member, Lesley Griffiths is a long-time supporter of the group and said: “As well as promoting our region’s picturesque surroundings, the Wrexham Walking Festival is all about encouraging people to live healthier lifestyles and I commend Walkabout Wrexham & District for all their efforts.”
“Their annual festival has attracted people from across the UK to visit Wrexham and North East Wales and I hope this year’s event will be the most successful yet.”
During the festival, walks take place daily and are graded depending on difficulty. All walks are free of charge and are led by trained leaders. Participants are reminded to wear suitable clothing and boots.
