Wrexham’s Member of the Senedd has praised the impact of a new community hub that has been a “beacon of support” to people from all walks of life, particularly during the past 12 months.
Lesley Griffiths MS recently visited Yellow and Blue in Wrexham town centre to meet with its founder, Pete Humphreys.
Set up in memory of Pete’s late father in 2017 as an online charity, Yellow and Blue is a non-profit social enterprise that aims to support the Wrexham community.
After securing premises on Henblas Street last year in the midst of the pandemic with the help of a National Lottery grant, Pete launched the Yellow and Blue Hub in May this year.
The vibrant café and outdoor space is an ideal spot to enjoy a coffee and some food but there are also a wide range of activities and workshops taking place throughout the day and on a daily basis.
There are plans in the pipeline to help Yellow and Blue grow and develop further, such as creating an IT hub for visitors in an attempt to combat digital exclusion.
After her visit, Lesley Griffiths MS said: “Yellow and Blue has been a beacon of support for people from all walks of life, particularly during this difficult period.
“The unit on Henblas Street is buzzing with life, with activities ranging from furniture restoration workshops to fitness classes.
“Pete is an inspiring individual. His passion, dedication and innovation is something to behold and there’s no doubt his creation is providing invaluable support to many local people.
“I will do all I can to support Pete and the team and look forward to visiting again soon.”
