Parents in Wrexham could be entitled to £125 to help cover the cost of school uniforms, sports kit and kit for activities outside of school such as scouts or guides.
The Welsh Government’s Pupil Development Grant (PDG) is targeted at learners who are entitled to free school meals or children who are looked after.
Eligible pupils must be going into reception or Year 7 in September, or aged between 4 or 11 in special schools, Special Education Needs (SEN) Units or Pupil Referral Units.
Wrexham’s Assembly Member, Lesley Griffiths, has welcomed the new ‘PDG Access’ scheme and is urging eligible local residents to apply for funding.
She said: “This fund will make a difference to local families living on low incomes, helping ease the financial burden associated with purchasing new school uniforms and equipment.”
“There may still be a few weeks left of the summer holidays but I would encourage any parents or carers who think they might be eligible to contact the local authority.”
